Three individuals — a Pakistan Army officer, a soldier, and a civilian — lost their lives on Saturday after an avalanche hit parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, according to the military.
The army said the incident occurred during a snow-clearing mission aimed at reopening the Burzil Pass using heavy equipment to enable the movement of troops in the area.
The operation was being supervised by Captain Asmad Gulfam when the avalanche struck, burying him along with another soldier and a civilian operating the machinery.
All three trapped in the incident later succumbed to their injuries, the statement said.
