Pakistan, UAE Reaffirm Strategic Partnership as CDF Asim Munir Highlights Shared Security Interests

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday underscored that the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates are inseparable from Pakistan’s own security interests, highlighting the long-standing historical bonds and strategic cooperation between the two nations, according to the military’s media wing.

As reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief conveyed these sentiments during his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Advisor.

During the discussion, both sides explored avenues to further broaden their bilateral engagement, with emphasis on investment, economic cooperation, and defence and security collaboration. They also reviewed regional dynamics and stressed the importance of continued coordination to advance peace and stability across the region.

Field Marshal Munir expressed “deep gratitude” to the UAE leadership for its longstanding investments and consistent support to Pakistan’s economy and security, noting that this commitment reflects the strength and depth of the relationship between the two countries.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to deepen the strategic partnership with the UAE across all sectors, ensuring mutual benefit and contributing to regional peace, prosperity, and stability.

Earlier, the CDF also met with Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman, where both leaders reiterated their countries’ strong defence partnership. In a statement posted on X, the Saudi minister noted that their meeting aimed to reaffirm “strong relations and strategic defence cooperation” and included discussions on joint efforts to promote global peace and security.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy a robust defence relationship, further strengthened in September last year through a landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement. The pact states that any aggression against one country will be viewed as aggression against both, demonstrating their united stance on security and regional stability.

The agreement was signed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
