Pakistan Claims Major Gains in ‘Operation Ghazab Lil Haq’ — DG ISPR Reveals Details

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has stated that Pakistan’s ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil Haq against the Afghan Taliban is progressing successfully and delivering the intended outcomes.

Speaking at a media briefing on Friday, the military spokesperson said Pakistan’s forces had successfully pushed back Taliban fighters at 53 different points along the border. He said the operations caused significant losses to the insurgents while Pakistani forces exercised restraint to prevent civilian casualties.

According to the DG ISPR, 274 Taliban fighters have been killed and more than 400 injured so far. He added that 73 enemy posts along the border had been destroyed, while 18 positions were taken under Pakistani control. He further revealed that 115 tanks and heavy vehicles used by militants were also neutralized during the engagements.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said clashes occurred at 22 locations across Afghanistan, including areas in Kandahar, Kabul, and Paktia Province, where terrorist infrastructure was specifically targeted. He noted that logistics hubs and militant hideouts were the primary focus and emphasized that no civilian areas were affected due to careful operational planning.

Acknowledging Pakistan’s losses, he said twelve soldiers were martyred, 27 sustained injuries, and one remains missing in action. He warned that any hostile act against Pakistan would be met with a firm response and criticized the Afghan Taliban leadership for adopting confrontational rhetoric.

Referring to external influences, Lt Gen Chaudhry alleged that tactics previously used by India were now being mirrored by the Afghan Taliban. He said the threats being issued against Pakistan exposed how external forces continued to encourage militant aggression.

The DG ISPR made it clear that Pakistan would hold the Afghan Taliban authorities responsible for any attack launched from Afghan territory. He stressed that the regime must clearly choose between Pakistan and terrorist groups including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Balochistan Liberation Army, Islamic State, and Al-Qaeda. He said Pakistan’s stance on this matter had been communicated repeatedly at official levels.

Reaffirming national resolve, he said Pakistan’s security and sovereignty would always remain the top priority, adding that the country had never hesitated to make sacrifices and would continue to do so if required.

He explained that the operation was carried out under Pakistan’s right to self-defence, a position he said was widely understood internationally. He also praised local law enforcement agencies, particularly the police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for their frontline role in counterterrorism efforts.

Concluding his briefing, the DG ISPR said Pakistan continued to play a critical role in regional security, describing the country as a frontline barrier against terrorism. He emphasized that the threat of militancy extended beyond Pakistan and posed a danger to the entire region.
