Pakistan Army has been declared champion of the National Inter-Department Netball Championship 2026, capping off a competitive tournament hosted at the Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Center in Karachi. The event, organized under the joint supervision of the Pakistan Netball Federation and World Netball in coordination with the Pakistan Sports Board, brought together departmental teams from across the country in a display of athletic discipline and sporting rivalry.
The tournament’s concluding fixture saw Pakistan Army overcome Pakistan Navy in a tightly contested final, winning by a scoreline of 22 goals to 17 to showcase superior coordination and composure under pressure. Pakistan Police claimed third position after getting the better of the PNF Elite Academy squad in a hard-fought playoff, winning the third-place encounter 22-16. The results placed Pakistan Army at the top of the podium, with Pakistan Navy as runners-up and Pakistan Police rounding out the top three finishers of the championship.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, who serves as Chairman of the Sindh Police Sports Board and Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Police Karachi, in his capacity as chief guest. He distributed trophies, medals and certificates to the champions, runners-up, third-place finishers and other participating athletes, and commended the performances of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Police and all competing departments while praising the Pakistan Netball Federation for its organization of the event. He reaffirmed his continued support for grassroots athlete development and the broader growth of netball and other sporting disciplines nationwide.
The ceremony was also attended by Ahmed Ali Rajput, Secretary General of the Sindh Olympic Association; Muhammad Riaz, Secretary of the Pakistan Netball Federation; and Saeed Ahmed Arain, Deputy Secretary of the Sindh Police Sports Board, among other dignitaries. Federation officials extended their appreciation to participating teams, technical officials, referees and volunteers for their contributions to the event’s success.
With this year’s championship concluded, the Pakistan Netball Federation has already confirmed plans for the 25th National Netball Championship, scheduled to take place in Islamabad in December 2026. Pakistan Army’s victory adds another accolade to its sporting record and underscores the armed forces’ consistent involvement in promoting competitive athletics across the country.
