Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir held important discussions on evolving global and regional security matters with Marco Rubio, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
Field Marshal Munir attended the 62nd Munich Security Conference during his visit to Germany from February 12 to 14, where he participated in high-level meetings on international peace and security.

ISPR revealed that the army chief’s meeting with the US Secretary of State covered areas of shared interest, including global and regional security developments as well as enhanced counterterrorism cooperation.
Throughout his visit, Field Marshal Munir met several key officials, including Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, Foreign and Security Policy Adviser to the German Chancellor Günter Sautter, and Chief of Defence Carsten Breuer. Discussions centred on modern security challenges, strengthening defence ties, and supporting global peace through bilateral and multilateral engagement.
He also held a constructive meeting with Brazilian Armed Forces Chief of the Joint Staff Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, where both sides reviewed opportunities to expand military cooperation.
Additionally, Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Gen Rodolph Haykal met Field Marshal Munir to exchange views on security issues and explore ways to deepen defence collaboration.
Earlier, in January, the CDF visited Switzerland, where he and Pakistan’s Prime Minister held informal interactions with Marco Rubio and other global leaders during the World Economic Forum. They also met with Ilham Aliyev, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the event.
