Pakistan’s security forces have eliminated nine terrorists in two successful intelligence-based operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reaffirming the state’s unwavering commitment to national security and counterterrorism, the military’s media wing confirmed on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out on 19 December 2025 against militants affiliated with Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used by the state for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Operation Details: Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu
The first intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Dera Ismail Khan district, where security forces acted on confirmed terrorist presence.
“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij’s location, and after an intense exchange of fire, four terrorists were sent to hell,” the ISPR stated.
The second operation took place in Bannu district, where troops once again demonstrated exceptional tactical precision.
“In the ensuing fire exchange, five more khwarij were effectively neutralised by the security forces,” the statement added.
Weapons Recovered, Terrorist Network Disrupted
Security personnel recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain terrorists, who were reportedly involved in multiple attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and the targeted killing of innocent civilians.
The ISPR confirmed that sanitisation operations are ongoing in both areas to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining terrorist elements.
Azm-e-Istehkam: Pakistan’s Relentless War on Terror
The military emphasized that these operations are part of Pakistan’s relentless counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
“The security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the ISPR reiterated.
Terrorism Threat Remains High
Earlier this year, Pakistan was ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with terrorist-related deaths increasing by 45 percent compared to the previous year. The report, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace, analyzes global terrorism trends over the past 17 years.
Just last week, security forces killed 13 terrorists in similar operations conducted in Mohmand and Bannu districts, reflecting intensified militant activity and an equally firm response by Pakistan’s security forces.
