Zero Tolerance for Foreign-Backed Militants and Facilitators: Commanders

Pakistan’s senior military leadership on Tuesday issued a strong warning against the use of terrorism for political or criminal purposes, stating that any connection between militancy, organized crime, and vested political interests would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The leadership emphasized that such elements would be confronted firmly as the country continues to face complex internal and external security challenges.

The warning was delivered during the 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference held at General Headquarters and chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ. During the meeting, participants offered Fateha for members of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians who were martyred in recent terrorist attacks, while paying tribute to the professionalism, courage, and sacrifices of security personnel involved in ongoing intelligence-based counterterrorism operations across the country.

Following a comprehensive review of the national and regional security environment, commanders stressed that militants operating with foreign support, along with their facilitators and abettors, would be dealt with decisively and without discrimination. The forum also rejected any attempts to create division or mistrust between the armed forces and the public, describing such efforts as a direct threat to national unity and stability.

The conference observed that coordinated efforts between the government and the military, supported by public determination, were gradually steering the country toward improved stability, better economic prospects, and enhanced international credibility. Participants welcomed special development initiatives in Balochistan focused on local empowerment and social inclusion, while noting that similar public-oriented measures were necessary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the National Action Plan to ensure lasting peace.

The forum reiterated Pakistan’s principled positions on key international issues, reaffirming its support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. It also called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian assistance, and a credible pathway toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

In his concluding remarks, the Army Chief directed commanders to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness, training, discipline, and technological advancement, expressing confidence in the armed forces’ ability to effectively counter the full spectrum of conventional and unconventional threats while protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
