US Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces carried out coordinated precision strikes against Iran-aligned groups in Iraq, targeting facilities allegedly linked to attacks on American forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.

According to a CENTCOM statement, US and Saudi fighter aircraft struck several weapons storage and logistics sites in eastern Iraq. CENTCOM said the operation followed more than 30 aerial drone attacks over a 72-hour period that it attributed to groups operating under the direction of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

CENTCOM said the recent attacks targeting US forces were unsuccessful.

The command further stated that between February and April 2026, Iran-aligned armed groups in Iraq attempted more than 600 attacks against US personnel and facilities.

US military officials warned the IRGC and affiliated groups against further attacks, saying continued hostile activity could result in additional American military action.

IRGC Claims Ballistic Missile Strikes on US Targets in Jordan

Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had launched ballistic missiles at US military targets in Jordan, including an American military base and a facility associated with US Central Command.

The IRGC also claimed that Iranian authorities detained three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz after the vessels allegedly failed to comply with warnings.

In a separate statement, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi addressed developments surrounding maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. He said returning the strategic waterway to its previous conditions would not, by itself, constitute a complete victory for Iran.

Gharibabadi said some countries had proposed establishing a southern shipping route through the Strait to facilitate maritime movement. He argued that such an arrangement would conflict with the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister also said Tehran had not sought negotiations with the United States during the preceding 15 days.
